What are screens

Overview

Screens in Adora give you a live visual snapshot of how your users experience your product. Each screen represents a unique moment captured from real user sessions, helping teams understand what customers see, do, and interact with. This article explains what Screens are, how they are captured, and how Adora organizes them.

What is a screen

A Screen is a single captured view of your product based on real user activity. Screens show:

  • The exact UI your user saw

  • The page layout and visual elements

  • Where interactions occurred

Screens help teams review product usability, identify friction, and analyze how customers move through different parts of the experience.

How screens are captured

Adora creates Screens using your session replays. As users move through your product:

  1. Adora takes visual snapshots as the page changes.

  2. Each snapshot is stored as a Screen.

  3. Screens are grouped so you see meaningful product pages rather than every tiny visual change.

Screens are automatically kept up to date based on ongoing user activity.

How screens are grouped

By default, Adora groups screens using the URL where they were captured. This prevents your workspace from becoming cluttered with duplicate or similar screens.

For example:

  • company.com/onboarding → Onboarding screen

These URL-based groups help you quickly browse the main screens of your product.

What are subscreens

Some pages change visually without changing the URL. In these cases, Adora automatically creates subscreens.

A subscreen represents a visually distinct variation of the same page.

Example:

  • company.com/onboarding Step 1

  • company.com/onboarding Step 2

  • company.com/onboarding Step 3

If each step looks different, Adora shows them as separate sub-screens so you can understand the full user flow, not just the URL.

You can also manually create your own screens and sub-screens if you want finer control.

Where to find screens

You can access screens in two places:

From the screens page

  • Use the Screens tab in the left navigation.

  • All screens are shown in order of most sessions → fewest sessions.

From a journey

  • When viewing a Journey, click any screen node.

  • This opens the screen modal for that specific screen.
