Journey types in Adora

Overview

Adora offers four Journey types to help you understand how users move through your product. Each type is designed for a different use case. This article explains how each Journey works and when to use it.

Common paths journey

A Common Paths Journey helps you explore how users behave when there are many possible paths. You select a starting screen, and Adora maps the most common user flows from that point.

They are best for:

  • Exploration when you don’t know what users do

  • Early-stage product learning

  • Uncovering patterns and unexpected routes

  • Understanding complex user behavior

To create a Common Paths Journey:

  1. Click Create Journey

  2. Choose Common Paths

  3. Select the starting screen

  4. Choose how many paths and nodes to include (this appears in the bottom pop-up once the journey is generated)

  5. Save the Journey

Custom journey

A Custom Journey lets you define the exact steps in the flow. You choose each screen or action in order.

They are best for:

  • Onboarding flows

  • Signup funnels

  • Clear linear user journeys

  • Measuring step-by-step performance

To create a Custom Journey:

  1. Click Create Journey

  2. Select Custom Journey

  3. Choose the first screen

  4. Add the next screens or actions in order

  5. Continue until the Journey is complete

  6. Save

Bookends journey

A Bookends Journey is used when you know the start and end of a flow but not what happens in between.

They are best for:

  • Checkout flows

  • Booking flows

  • Application processes with many variations

To create a Bookends Journey:

  1. Click Create Journey

  2. Select Bookends

  3. Choose the starting screen

  4. Choose the ending screen

  5. Save

Click Through journey

A Clickthrough Journey lets you create a Journey by clicking through your product’s screens, mimicking a user’s experience.

They are best for:

  • Product walkthroughs

  • UX reviews

  • Exploring from the user’s perspective

To create a Click Through Journey:

  1. Click Create Journey

  2. Select Clickthrough

  3. Choose a starting screen

  4. Click on the screen to see the actions pulsing in green

  5. Click an action on the screen to move forward
